It's strong enough for your child to use until they're toddlers. It also meets British safety standards. The depth isn't so great that your baby can climb out and the distance between the slats shouldn't be more than 65mm. This should stop their head from getting trapped. You will also need to buy a mattress that costs an additional PS88.

The sleigh shape of this cot is really beautiful and makes it stand out from the rest. It's also easy to get your baby in and out, which is another important benefit. It's a bit more expensive than some other cots, but our panel thought it was worth the extra cost for the look and durability.

This cot bed is available in country pine or walnut finishes. It can be used from birth. It comes with three mattress heights so you can start your baby starting with the base raised up to make it easier to get to them throughout the day and the night, and then lower it as they develop. It has teething rails to safeguard your child's furniture and gums. When your child is out of the cot bed, it is able to be easily transformed to a junior bed and then it can be converted into a sofa.

The Westport design from Silver Cross is another cot that feels substantial and is made to last. It can be used from birth as a cot, then as toddler bed, and finally as an adult bed. (Toddler guard rail is available separately). Our panel members found it to be a little tricky to convert from cot to bed, however their other half of them said it was a doddle and took less than five minutes to complete. It's also a bit more expensive than other cots but it's the kind of style that you'll likely want to keep for your children as they grow.
